Bhagwan Shri Krishna says in Chapter 2, Verse 27 of the Bhagavad Gita:
जातस्य हि ध्रुवो मृत्युर्ध्रुवं जन्म मृतस्य च |
तस्मादपरिहार्येऽर्थे न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ||

"Death is certain for one who has been born, and rebirth is certain for one who has died. Therefore, do not lament over the inevitable."

Still we become saddened and are often unsure how to deal with the loss of our loved ones.

Hindu Funeral Rites: Antyeshti Sanskar describes the last rites Hindus perform for ones we hold dear. The post-death and cremation rites are described along with their meaning and impact on the departed.
Although this book was published by the Swaminarayan Sampradaya, any Hindu can read it and learn about the necessary processes upon the death of their loved ones.
Written for the Hindu diaspora community, regardless of your family traditions, there is much to learn from this small but well written book.
